Welcome to Chifanlema. By using our app, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Chifanlema ("the app"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Description of Service

Chifanlema is a mobile application for learning Mandarin Chinese vocabulary. The app provides a personalized word feed, AI-powered search, stroke order animations, example sentences with native audio, text-to-speech pronunciation, shareable word cards, and lock screen widgets. The service is provided "as is" and may be updated or modified at any time.

3. Free and Premium Tiers

Chifanlema offers a free tier (ad-supported with daily usage limits on AI features) and a premium subscription tier (ad-free with unlimited AI searches and TTS). Subscriptions are managed through the App Store or Google Play and are subject to their respective terms. You can cancel your subscription at any time through your device's subscription settings.

4. User Accounts

• You must create an account to use the app. You can sign up with email/password or through Google or Apple.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
• You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
• You must be at least 13 years old to use the app.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the app's systems or other users' accounts
• Interfere with or disrupt the app's infrastructure
• Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the app beyond normal usage
• Reverse engineer or decompile the app

6. Intellectual Property

The app, its design, code, and content (excluding third-party data) are owned by Chifanlema. Dictionary data is sourced from third-party providers and used under their respective terms. Stroke order data is provided by HanziWriter (MIT license). Example sentences are stored in our database and sourced from various providers.

7. User Data

Your use of the app is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data.

8. Availability and Updates

We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the app. The app may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time without prior notice.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee the accuracy of vocabulary data, translations, or pronunciation. The app is a learning aid and should not be relied upon as the sole source of language instruction.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Chifanlema shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

11. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time through the app's Settings screen. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
